Prof. Ziegler opens STUVA Conference 2021

23 November 2021

Following the successful meeting in November 2019, the STUVA conference was held in Karlsruhe from November 23-25, 2021, despite the pandemic-related difficulties. The participants were happy to accept the restrictions due to increased safety requirements, such as the obligation to wear a face mask at all times, in order to finally have the opportunity to socialize with the STUVA community after a long absence and to exchange information about current projects and the latest developments in the field of underground construction and tunnel operation.

The event was formally opened by STUVA Chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Ziegler and welcoming addresses by Dr. Frank Mentrup, Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe and Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economics, Labor and Tourism of the State of Baden-Württemberg. The conference with sessions for tunnel construction and tunnel operation as well as the accompanying exhibition, for which 3,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors had registered and only a few cancellations were recorded, was a complete success once again, as could be seen from the many positive feedbacks from the participants.
